Think about its role - how do you live and what role will this
piece play in your home?
Think about who is going to use the furniture and how they like
to sit. Two pieces of furniture may look similar but can feel
completely different due to factors such as the seat & back
cushion fills, seat height & depth and angle. The usage
occassion e.g. everyday living, TV viewing or entertaining, will
affect the sort of furniture that will be right for you.
Check the product authenticity. There are lots of copies
of original designs in the marketplace. If you are after the
genuine article, check that that is what you are getting.
Check the product specification. Weight can often be a
guide as to how well a piece of furniture is made.
Unfortunately, with upholstered furniture, it's what you can't see
that is most important - how the frames are constructed and what
materials are used. Ask what the furniture is made from and
what warranty is offered.
